Valentine’s Day 2009.I am one of the millions who believe that Valentine’s Day celebration is overrated. My husband and I don’t normally celebrate this day with candle-lit dinners or out-of-town trips. No, we’re not jaded. It’s just that we’ve tried going out on Valentine’s Day once or twice but we always end up getting pissed because of traffic jam and restaurants being full which most of the time results to poor service, even if you have a reservation. So even before we were married, we normally just let the day pass without much effort to celebrate.
But today was special.
Today, courtesy of his relatives, I received a wonderful surprise from my husband who now works abroad and is on his way halfway across the world for a business trip. He asked his niece, nephew, and sister to buy me flowers and deliver the bouquet to our house. It was the most beautiful bouquet I’ve ever seen (sigh). (And it was not wrapped in plastic, which he knows I hate.) I was smiling the whole day…!
My husband always knows how to make me smile, I feel lucky to have him in my life. And yes I have a happy heart because of him. But I don’t need Valentine's Day to remind me of that. I’m reminded for all the days and times he finds ways to make me feel loved. Isn’t love wonderful? Valentine’s Day is not so bad afterall.
