Jolly Weddings

******************************

Wedding are happy occasions and make interesting topics of discussion among girl friends. Everybody turns on a good mood whenever weddings are mentioned. I remember the first time I announced to my circle of friends that I was getting married, of course mine was long overdue , everybody just started giving me advice, offering suggestions on the color motif, where to hold the reception, what type of dress would best suit me, etc. At the church where my husband and I got married, the people in charged of registration are always laughing, joking around, and excited whenever couples go to their office to register. I’ve never seen a bunch of very positive people! I guess everybody wants to be a part of such a happy occasion.

At one sleepover party with my girl friends, after running out of people to talk about (hehe), our topic turned to weddings. These friends that I speak of I’ve known for more than 20 years and have been friends with since high school. We’re practically family, and we are each other’s support system. We’ve planned, prepared, and attended each other’s birthdays, bridal showers, weddings, baby showers, baby's christening, children’s parties, Christmas parties, summer outings, and just about any momentous occasion in our lives.

Because one of us is single again (but not available, and I will not even try to explain that), we were excited for this specific friend and decided to plan a fictitious wedding for her and her wonderful guy. Being the most recent bride among the group, I was asked to help her plan her future wedding. Our conversation turned from serious to crazy as the night deepened and we started discussing about weird wedding reception concepts. We realized that it is such an ordeal to plan a wedding reception ---- look for the perfect venue, find a caterer, decide on a budget, select the best food on the menu, choose the best cake (that people would want to have their pictures taken beside it, like my wedding cake! Hahaha). We thought, wouldn’t it be so simple and less complicated if receptions were held at a famous hamburger chain instead? We agreed that indeed it was for the following jolly reasons:

- Budget is not a problem; they serve a variety of values meals
- If your guests order a kiddie meal, they get a free toy
- The extra rice is individually wrapped
- There’s extra gravy for that really crispy chicken
- They offer the services of an emcee to keep your guests in an interactive mood
- They have the trendiest parlor games (spaghetting pababa pababa ng pababa)
- Additional entertainment from a mascot is a ready option
- Loot bags are given out to guests at the end of the party

And if that does not impress you --- guests can take home leftover food by simply asking for an extra plastic bag over-the-counter….

No sweat…Just make sure that your color motif doesn’t clash with the color red and you’re all set! (I have no problem with this, I love ther burger meal, the mushroon gravy is sooo yummm.)

More on my friend’s wedding soon…!
